External Tokens

What are external tokens and how do they work?

MoltSets resolves most contact data — emails, phone numbers, et al. — from its own database. For some requests, the data you're looking for isn't in that database, and MoltSets will make a call to a third-party data source to try to find it. Those calls cost external tokens.

External tokens exist separately from your regular credit balance. They're specifically for lookups that can't be resolved in-house — the goal is to maximise coverage so you're not getting empty results simply because a contact falls outside MoltSets' native database.

How external tokens work

When you make a request, MoltSets checks its own data first. If a result is found, it returns normally and charges a standard credit. If it isn't, and an external source might have the answer, MoltSets uses an external token to attempt that lookup.

External tokens are only consumed when a third-party call is made — not on every request, and not when no data is found.

How many external tokens do I have?

Your external token allocation depends on your plan:

Which calls use external tokens?

The number of external tokens used is dependent on the data requested and whether or not MoltSets has the informational internally for a given record:
