MoltSets resolves contact data from its own database. For mobile phone requests specifically, MoltSets also makes a live call to a third-party data source, to make sure you get the most current number rather than a cached match. Those calls cost phone tokens.

Phone tokens exist separately from your regular credit balance. They're specifically for mobile phone lookups — the goal is to maximise coverage and freshness so you're not getting an empty or stale result simply because a number isn't in MoltSets' native database.

Email lookups never use phone tokens. Emails are resolved entirely from MoltSets' own database.

When you request mobile phone data, MoltSets always makes a live call to a third-party data source — mobile numbers are sourced live on each lookup, not from a cached match, so results reflect the most up-to-date number available. A phone token is consumed only when that call actually returns data, not on every request and not when no data is found.

Email requests don't go through this flow at all: MoltSets only ever checks its own database for emails, and never falls back to a third-party lookup or consumes a phone token.

Gifted phone tokens (the ones included with your subscription at no extra charge) roll over at the end of the month if you don't use them, but they expire at the end of the following month. This gives each gifted token a lifespan of up to 60 days.

Each month, tokens are consumed in this order: rolled-over gifted tokens first, then the current month's allocation, and finally any purchased tokens. This means gifted tokens are used up before they have a chance to expire wherever possible.

Purchased phone tokens do not expire. They roll over and remain available for as long as your account is active.

If you cancel your subscription, any remaining phone tokens, gifted or purchased, are removed from your account.

Only mobile phone lookups use phone tokens. Every mobile phone lookup that returns data uses 10 phone tokens; lookups that return no data aren't charged. Email lookups are never charged, since they're resolved from MoltSets' own database only.
